Prof. Dr. Elif Uysal has been recognized with the IEEE INFOCOM 2026 Test of Time Paper Award for a study she co-authored. The awarded paper, originally published in 2016, advanced the concept of "Age of Information" — a measure of data freshness in communication networks — by demonstrating that transmitting updates as frequently as possible is not necessarily optimal. The IEEE INFOCOM Test of Time Award is given to papers published 10–12 years prior in the INFOCOM proceedings that have had a lasting influence on the research community; for the 2026 cycle, papers from 2014–2016 were eligible.
