Başlık: Synchrotron Radiation, SESAME and Research Opportunities

Özet: Synchrotron-Light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) is a “third-generation” synchrotron light source. It is the first synchrotron light source in the Middle East and neighbouring countries, and also the region’s first major international centre of excellence. It operates under the auspices of UNESCO and has 8 members, including Türkiye, as well as 18 observers. Türkiye is represented in the SESAME governance structure by TENMAK (Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency). Accelerator and collider users are supported both nationally and internationally.

In this presentation, the critical role of synchrotron radiation in science and technology, the advanced research opportunities offered by SESAME, beamlines, user application processes, and available financial support will be discussed in detail.

Özgeçmiş: Dr. Mustafa Fatih Genişel is the HESEB beamline scientist at SESAME. Mustafa Genisel received his BS and PhD degrees in Chemistry from Middle East Technical University and Bilkent University, respectively. He was a faculty member at Dicle University before joining SESAME. His research studies focus on PVD hard coatings and surface characterization.
