METU has been recently awarded $830.000 for a project titled “METU as a Smart Campus” by US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). Proposed by the team of Prof. Dr. Yasemin Yardimci Cetin from Informatics Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hediye Tuydes Yaman from Civil Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Seyda Ertekin Bolelli from Computer Engineering and Asst. Prof. Dr. Murat Gol from our department with the coordination of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ozan Keysan again from our department, it is the only project awarded from Turkey. A feasibility study will be accomplished by the project, which aims to transform METU campus into a sustainable campus via installing solar panels on top of buildings and car-parks, building an electric bike and electrical shuttle buses networks, and improving water treatment systems across the campus.
